Automatic Slack Adjusters
|
As the leading supplier of automatic slack adjusters and foundation brakes in North America, ArvinMeritor understands their delicate relationship. In today’s competitive climate, successful businesses need to reduce costs and increase productivity.
The Meritor® Automatic Slack Adjuster (ASA), proven in hundreds of billions of service miles, helps customers achieve these goals.
The unique design keeps brake in constant adjustment; eliminates the need for frequent under-the-truck brake adjustments; reduces brake maintenance costs; reduces vehicle safety inspection citations; and allows for optimum brake performance.
Meritor ASAs are designed for a variety of commercial vehicle applications and are available for steer, drive and trailer axles.
Flexible, “handed” or “unhanded” design options to fit various packaging requirements.
Pull pawl design for fewer moving parts.
The need to remove pawl during manual adjustment is eliminated allowing for a built-in safety feature so the brake cannot be inadvertently backed-off.
Pressed-in and sealed boot for maximum durability.
Buttress-type worm gear that increases strength for longer life.
Gear face seals help decrease internal contamination and corrosion, minimizing internal torques.
Worm seal prevents water from gaining access to the worm gear shaft for longer life.
Various piston designs for adaptability to unique vehicle vocations and duty cycles.
Simple ratchet design with fewer moving parts and no slip-clutches that will wear out

Four-Piston Quadraulic™ Disc Brakes
|
Designed for medium-duty truck applications, the 4 x 64 mm and 4 x 70 mm four-piston Quadraulic disc brake calipers offer several performance and maintenance benefits to fleets and owner-operators.
Designed to package with 19.5" and 22.5" wheel sizes, Meritor® Quadraulic disc brake calipers provide improved durability and increased lining life over today's conventional rail and pin slider calipers. Additionally, the calipers are compatible with anti-lock braking systems and existing hydraulic systems, resulting in better vehicle control and stability.
Brake caliper is hard-mounted to the anchor plate offering a high-temperature piston boot compound, sealer bleeder screws and full-coverage zinc plating.
Possibility of needing to replace the caliper or anchor plate is minimized; eliminates scheduled maintenance.
Fixed caliper design keeps brake hose in place minimizing potential for hose damage during lining replacement.
Lining changes require only the removal of the lining retention bolt (no swing of caliper) simplifying maintenance.

Meritor Lite™ Hubs
|
One of the great challenges for truck and trailer component manufacturers is how to reduce weight without sacrificing strength and durability. Meritor meets this challenge with its Meritor Lite™ hub, the lightest standard ductile iron hub in the industry.
Pound for pound, Meritor Lite hubs are as strong or stronger than other ductile iron hubs and much more durable than aluminum hubs.
Engineered using ductile iron instead of aluminum to provide more than 50% improvement in both tensile and yield strength.
No heating requirements for bearing cup replacement, unlike aluminum hubs, which reduces maintenance time.
Higher strength threads to significantly reduce the likelihood of stripping which can result in oil leaks and catastrophic bearing failures.
Expansion rate compatibility with steel bearing cups to help ensure proper fitting.

Q Plus™ Cam Brakes
|
Performance, dependability, simple operation and proven design are the factors that have led Meritor® Q Plus cam brakes to become an industry standard.
The Q Plus increases service life and mileage between relines by providing more lining thickness. A specially-designed S-cam and heavy-duty shoe return spring allow additional shoe travel required to fully wear the thicker lining blocks. And, an improved camshaft bushing contributes to longer service life.
Q Plus brakes are available for steer, drive and trailer axle applications.
Linings with extra thickness at the maximum wear point for increased service life.
S-cam designed to increase brake shoe travel.
Improved camshaft bushing material for longer life.
Parts commonality among steer, drive and trailer brakes for reduced parts inventory.
High Performance Steer Axle Brakes provide enhanced stopping power with up to 60 percent more torque and 65 percent more wearable lining than standard 15" x 4" brakes.
Series
|
15” x 4” front, 16.5” x 7” For standard linehaul applications
15” x 5” front, 16.5” x 8” rear For linehaul applications that require increased brake width.
