During the 1990s, long travel (or soft damper) clutch disc designs became standard equipment on heavy duty trucks. Today, clutch design is even more advanced. But, for owners of vehicles from what is known as the “transition period”, a clutch replacement dilemma could exist. Having had their drivetrains subjected to substandard vibration dampening since the vehicle was new, they are faced with a dilemma during clutch replacement.
ArvinMeritor has provided one potential solution with the availability of the Sachs Soft-Damper Service Clutch Discs. These clutch discs are one of a kind – the only soft damper in existence with compatibility to the early model flywheels. They fit new and older flywheels with bores as small as 7.5”.
Transitioning is made easier since the soft-damper discs are completely interchangeable and are available in torque ratings up to 1,650 lb-ft.
Fits new and older flywheels allowing for more versatility.
Durability to withstand the rigors of single plate clutch duty cycles, in a twin plate application twice as robust.
Stops damaging torsonial vibration to the drivetrain.
